The Arkansas Razorbacks have had one of the worst offseasons in college football history.

They lost their coach in a scandalous event, had several players arrested, yet they still have a very realistic chance to win the SEC.

Arkansas Football: SEC Championship

The Razorbacks are 20-to-1 to win the BCS National Championship and that number looks pretty sweet considering the talent that they are bringing into the season. In other previews, Michigan has been lauded as a division champion, and Alabama has been predicted to struggle and that leaves the door open for Arkansas to have a shot at the national championship and have the best season in school history.

Arkansas brings back Tyler Wilson and an explosive offense that will rank among the best in college football. Knile Davis anchors a backfield that has a slew of talented running backs that can carry the rock and take pressure off Wilson. Wilson’s main target will be Cobi Hamilton and there is a good chance that he will have Marquel Wade ready to go on opening day, if he is cleared from his current charges.

The first test for the Razorbacks will be Alabama, but the Hogs get the tide at home and with an inexperienced secondary that Wilson can expose for big points and a big win.

John L. Smith takes over as head coach and he only has a ten month contract, which means he will pull out every stop to win this year. If he can win the SEC west he will get another contract and stick around at the helm for Arkansas.

Arkansas has tough games at College station against Texas A&M, at Auburn, at South Carolina, and at Starkville, but they have all of the tools to win and to win big in 2012. The 20-to-1 odds to win the BCS championship may be a long shot, but the Hogs have a very good chance of winning the SEC.

They play Alabama and LSU at home and they are currently listed at 6-to-1 odds to win the SEC. That is a nice number considering they play Alabama early in the season and they are home to play LSU late in the year.

The Hogs have been through a lot this year, but they will use the turmoil as motivation and when the dust settles they will be SEC champions
