2013 Baltimore Ravens: Will They Win More than 8 Games?

The Baltimore Ravens are defending Super Bowl champions, so it is a bit surprising to see the over / under at wins set at 8.5. That shows just how difficult it is to repeat as champions in the National Football League. Those are not the only NFL odds that may surprise you as the Ravens took a hit in other categories such as odds to win the AFC and Super Bowl XLVII.

2013 Baltimore Ravens Odds

Many of the top rated sportsbooks have already released future odds and win totals for the 2013 season. The Baltimore Ravens over / under for wins heading into this season is posted at 8.5, depending on your sports betting outlet. The Ravens are also listed at (+1400) to win the AFC Championship and (+2000) to win Super Bowl XLVII.

2013 Baltimore Ravens Off season

The Baltimore Ravens may have won a Super bowl but in the off season they lost the majority of players that helped to get them there.  It started with the retirement of Ray Lewis and letting safety Ed Reed go to a different team. Then Paul Kruger and Bernard Pollard left the team leaving the defense in peril, but it was the offensive side of the football that lost nine players from a year ago.

The Ravens front office began the reconstruction by nabbing Elvis Dumervil to fill in as linebacker and using the draft to nab Aaron Brown. Matt Elam will look good in the secondary as the Ravens get younger, but it will be a big turnover for a team that was so successful a season ago. Quarterback Joe Flacco proved he could carry this team through the playoffs. Flacco compiled 1,140 yards, 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions to go along with a YPA of 9.0 in four contests. He was both lethal and mistake-free. That might be tougher to repeat when looking at the upcoming schedule. [yop_poll id=”31″]

Baltimore Ravens Predictions

The Baltimore Ravens get to face off against Denver, Green Bay and Houston in the first six games of the season which should equate to a slow start for a team that is attempting to find chemistry. The Ravens still have weapons on offense with running back Ray Rice and wide out Torrey Smith to make this team a contender.  The Ravens will struggle to make up for a slow start.

After winning a super bowl every team will be out to beat down the Ravens and that will lead to a tough season for the Ravens as they fail to get eight wins.
