2013 NFL Week 6 Prediction: Indianapolis Colts vs. San Diego Chargers

The Colts

The Indianapolis Colts head into the Week 6 Monday night game with an excellent 4-1 record. They would’ve had a perfect season so far had not it been for the very close defeat against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2. The current division leaders fell just a tad bit short in that game, as they almost achieved a come-from-behind victory against the Dolphins. After that setback, though, the Colts have been on a major roll. They’ve posted three straight victories against the 49ers, the Jaguars, and the Seahawks. Their 34-28 triumph over Seattle—which is one of the top favorites to win the Superbowl XLVIII –is particularly remarkable seeing as the Seahawks haven’t suffered a regular season game loss since the November of last year. From the looks of it, Indianapolis is poised to take their first AFC South division title in the post-Peyton Manning era.

The Chargers

Reeling from a 27-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders, the San Diego Chargers look to recover from that by trying to get one over the Colts. But as you know and as mentioned above, that’s easier said than done since Indianapolis has been red hot so far. San Diego, on the other hand, has been rather tepid in the last five games, as it has gone from a loss to a win to a loss to a win and to another loss (their 2 wins came from the top two teams in the NFC East, though, which are Philadelphia and Dallas). There seems to be a pattern here; and if we go by that, the Chargers will chalk up the next game in their win column. Will the pattern continue or will it be broken? It’s more likely going to be the latter, as San Diego will have to bring its “A+” game if it wants a shot at scoring an upset against Indianapolis.

 The Odds

As expected, the Colts are projected to topple the Chargers in their upcoming clash. Most of the leading bookmakers such as Bet 365, Ladbrokes, Betfred, and Coral all have an Indianapolis win pegged at the odds of 5/6. Regardless of who eventually comes out on top, this Week 6 matchup should be an interesting watch.  Yes, San Diego may be sitting on a 2-3 record, but those losses came from close contests. Plus, this team has the tendency to surprise. This game probably won’t be as lopsided as most may think, thus we can’t wait for Monday night.
