2017 NBA Finals Picks: Can the Cavs Beat the Warriors?

Finally the 2017 NBA Finals are here and it is time to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors face off in what could be one of the greatest championship series that we have ever seen. This series has had some serious hype and everyone is making their NBA Finals Picks on the series and predictions for game one. So of course I had to chime in with my thoughts on what team will walk away with the NBA Championship in this highly anticipated trilogy.

Betting The Numbers

I am not only going to make a selection on this series, but I am going to make NBA Finals picks against the spread for this series.  With that in mind we have to look at the odds for the NBA Finals and see exactly what they are telling us. The odds show us that the Warriors are (-260) in several places to win a championship. This is a pretty heavy favorite considering that the Warriors are going up against the best player on the planet in LeBron James and the Cavaliers who are not the worst team in the world. This is a strong indication that everyone is on the Warriors. That is always something to take note of.

Bandwagon Fully Loaded

The best and biggest online sportsbooks and in Las Vegas do not make a habit of losing money. Everyone is picking the Warriors and I mean everyone. In fact in the Ultimate NBA Finals betting guide, they believe that the Warriors will win the championship in five games. Some sportsbooks even suggest that over 90% of the picks believe that the Warriors will win. That’s a lot!

LeBron James is Still the King

Say what you will about LeBron James but he is still the best player in the league. He takes over games and these numbers from ESPN show just how dominant he is in the playoffs. LeBron James has played absurdly well in the playoffs: 32.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game, not to mention a 30.4 player efficiency rating, 126 offensive rating and .299 Win Shares per 48 minutes (last postseason, he was at .274)

Cavs Sharp Shooters

The Warriors get the credit for shooting the 3-ball, but the Cavs are not shabby. In fact they are being overlooked. The Cavs have the second-highest percentage of field goals that are 3-pointers, and lead the playoffs in 3-pointers made per game and per 100 possessions. They are No. 1 in 3-point percentage and will be looking to light up the scoreboard in the NBA Finals.

2017 NBA Finals Picks: The Winner is…..

Many people believe that the Cavs can win if they get a good series from Kevin Love. Love played his best in Boston and considered by many to be a legit MVP bet worth making. I am taking the Cavs to win this series. It gets even better. I think the Warriors (-7) win and cover game one and if they do that you will get a much better line on the Cavs to win the NBA Championship.
