When it comes to records, the Bruins have the edge as they finished the season with a 9-4 record, while Baylor completed the season with just seven wins. Bruins coach Jim Mora Jr. has turned around the UCLA football program in just one season.

Under Mora running back Johnathan Franklin amassed over 1700 yards on the ground and ranked ninth nationally in rushing the rock. When Franklin is not running, quarterback Brett Hundley will be throwing the ball as he looks to build on a 26 touchdown campaign. To aid his cause, redshirt freshman receiver Devin Lucien will return to the field in the Holiday Bowl after suffering a broken collarbone in the Sept. 29 victory over Colorado.

“I was cleared 100% a week ago,” Lucien said after Thursday’s practice. “I felt good four to five weeks after the injury, but the doctors didn’t think so.”

The Bruins will have a strong fan presence for this game. UCLA has sold its entire allotment of 11,000 tickets. Of the 70 schools participating in bowls, UCLA is among six that has sold its entire ticket allotment.

This will make the Bruins offense more potent and able to put points up on the board. For as good as the Bruins offense has been this year, it could be argued that the Bears are even better.

Baylor’s offense is so successful they have nine touchdown drives this season that lasted exactly one play and 16 touchdown drives that lasted three plays or less. The quick-strike attack will be driven by quarterback Nick Florence who is the nation’s leader in total offense.  In fact the Bears have the No.1 rated offense in the country.

Also as ESPN points out the Bears are red-hot. The Bears enter this game as the hottest team in the Big 12, fresh off a dominant win over then-No. 1 Kansas State and wins over Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. The Bears are 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last 4 games following a win, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games, and 5-0 ATS in the last five games overall.

The Bruins are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and is overmatched in this game against the Bears. The Bears have the better offense and are the hotter team. Take the points and the Bears to win the Holiday Bowl.

Baylor vs UCLA Predictions: Baylor Bears 58 UCLA 47 (Bears +1)
