When experts put out their 2012 college football predictions for the season not many people picked the Florida Gators to be a powerhouse in the SEC. Yet here we are nine weeks into the season and Florida has yet to lose a game and have beat college football powerhouses in South Carolina and LSU.

Even with that impressive resume many experts still believe the Gators will lose plenty of games starting with this game against Georgia and miss out on the BCS party.

The public disagrees as the Florida Gators are attracting plenty of attention from the bettors, so is it time to jump off the Gators bandwagon before it crashes?

Florida vs Georgia Odds: before betting any game the first thing to investigate is the odds. The Gators opened as (-5) point favorites and that line has steadily been bet up to (-6.5) and will be 7-points by kickoff. The latest college football consensus shows that 70 percent of the betting public is on the Gators. So with everyone so high on the Gators why are the experts predicting a down fall?

Brad Edwards an ESPN Insider suggested that the Gators will miss out on the big BCS bowl games.

This has nothing to do with what the Gators have accomplished so far, and instead has to do with how they’ll finish: at Florida State, and then the SEC championship game. Edwards is predicting the Gators to lose both games and the Sugar Bowl will not invite a team off a loss.

Another big problem is the Gators offense.

The Gators have been winning with a defense-and-special-teams-first personality, scoring 44 points last weekend against South Carolina despite generating only 183 yards of total offense. While this is good news for the special teams and the defensive play, it is not good news for the offense.

Florida ranks No. 82 in generating first downs, far worse than any recent BCS championship game participant and they rank 25th in the nation in rushing offense, averaging just 212 yards per outing. Now they are going up against a Georgia team looking for a signature win.

The Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt is in desperate need of a big win after the team was dismantled against South Carolina.

Unlike the Gators the Bulldogs have an explosive offense that can put up numbers behind the play of quarterback Aaron Murray. This team will beat the Gators if Murray can put together a solid game. Murray has played well for much of the season and ranks third among all SEC quarterbacks in passing yards and first in QB rating (seventh overall in the nation).

This game will come down to how well Murray plays against the tough Gators defense. The college football trends also indicate that the Bulldogs have a big chance to pull off the upset.

The Gators are 5-11-1 ATS when playing a team with a winning record and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.

The Bulldogs are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and they are poised to upset the Gators and finally get the signature win they have needed all season long.
