College Basketball Pick Against the Spread (January 23, 2013)
The Duke Blue Devils responded with a blowout victory after losing their first true road test against the North Carolina State Wolfpack. After dominating the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Duke will get another chance for road redemption when they head south to take on the Miami Hurricanes.
The game is officially sold out. The ESPN crew of Dick Vitale, Dan Shulman and Jeannine Edwards will call the game. Last season, 7,261 fans saw the Canes down No. 15/16 Florida State on Feb. 26, and Miami drew 7,071 for the Feb. 15 game against No. 8/7 North Carolina, including 1,552 students.
The college basketball odds for the Duke Blue Devils vs. Miami Hurricanes game opened with the Blue Devils listed as (-2.5) point favorites. As expected with such a low line the money from the public came flowing in on Duke and the line will most likely get to at least (-3) by tip-off.

The Hurricanes are 13-3 on the season to include 4-0 against the ACC. Unlike other teams in the conference, the Hurricanes rely on upper classman to power this team. The No. 25 Hurricanes actually start four seniors (two fifth-year players and one sixth-year veteran), which comes in handy in big games.
The Canes are fresh off an impressive one-point victory against the Boston College Eagles. The Canes could have easily lost that game looking ahead to this matchup with Duke, yet they stood strong and they emerged victorious.
The Blue Devils are dealing with a rash of injuries that has not allowed the starter’s time to practice at the same time. The recent injury is a right shin injury to Seth Curry that has limited his practice time. With all of the injuries Coach Krzyzewski has juggled his lineup and even installed some new plays.
Miami’s Kenny Kadji will take advantage of the rotations and the new defensive alignments from lighting it up from the outside.
The Blue Devils are 2-7 against the spread (ATS) in their last nine against the Atlantic Coast and just 1-5-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Hurricanes are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
Duke may be the new No. 1 in the country, but they will be quickly knocked from the top spot after losing on the road against Miami.
