ESPN Gameday will invade Kyle Field to hype up the fans, but the Gators will squeak out of town with a win.
The Aggies are playing the first game of the season and many of the best teams in the country started slow in week one as they adjusted to real game speed. The Gators have the edge of already playing in a game.
Florida coach Will Muschamp has yet to choose a starting quarterback although Jeff Driskel had an impressive showing in game one. Muschamp played a very “safe” game in week one against Bowling green and while some people saw this as a poor showing; they were keeping it vanilla for the outing against the Aggies. Brent Pease kept the offense simple with multiple formations. They did not show their hand before the game with the Aggies.
Now the Gators will lean heavily on running back Mike Gillislee to carry the rock and keep the offense consistent and on the field. Keeping the ball away from the Aggies and controlling the clock will be a key to victory.
Kevin Sumlin makes his debut as head coach for the Aggies and will be starting a youngster under center. Redshirt-freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel gets the call in a pass-happy attack that will throw early and often.
The Gators are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games in September and have made a habit of starting off by stringing a few wins together. The Aggies are 1-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last five games in September, 1-7 ATS against a team with a winning record and 3-9 ATS in the last 12 games in September.
This will be one of the better games to watch on Saturday and will provide plenty of excitement for the football fans. When the game is over, the Florida Gators will finish on top and grab the mild upset.
