The Thursday NFL schedule continues with another great matchup as the Giants vs. Panthers will be featured under the lights.
The New York Giants are off an impressive win in come from behind fashion over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Eli Manning torched the Tampa By secondary for over 500 yards in the come from behind victory. Despite the big win, the game is
mired in controversy as the Bucs played hard up to the final gun, which did not sit well with Giants head coach Tom Coughlin.
Down south the Carolina Panthers were also on their way to an impressive win as they throttled the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers played hard and made their case as a contender in the NFC South. With both teams facing a short week, they will have to get ready quick for this Thursday night throw-down.
Giants vs. Panthers Odds: The betting line on this game opened up with the Giants as slight one-point favorites. Despite the 1-1 record the Giants have gotten off to a slow start which is nothing new for this team. The Giants are 2-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven games in September. The Giants also have injuries to deal with as running back Ahmad Bradshaw has a neck injury and they have injuries to the offensive line. This will put the emphasis on Eli Manning again and make the Giants offense one-dimensional.
The Giants have also had trouble adjusting defensively as they have given up an average of 29 points per game. For the first time this year they will have to deal with a mobile quarterback in Cam Newton.
The Panthers are a much better team offensively when they have both running backs ready to go. Jonathan Stewart returned to the field last week and alongside DeAngelo Williams they make a formidable one-two punch. Add Newton in the mix and the Panthers have a solid running attack that tallied 41 attempts for 219 yards a week ago.
The biggest problem for the Giants will be in the secondary where they will have a tough time guarding Steve Smith and the emerging Brandon LaFell.
The Panthers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games and the crowd will be amped up for this prime-time special. The Panthers will pull off back-to-back upsets and get the win at home.
Giants vs. Panthers Prediction: Panthers +1
