College Basketball Pick Against the Spread (January 26, 2013)
The game between Maryland Terrapins vs Duke Blue Devils will be much more than a basketball game as the Blue Devils will look to rebound from their worst loss of the season. Duke was humiliated in Miami and that could spell trouble for the visiting Terrapins.
The college basketball odds for the Maryland Terrapins vs Duke Blue Devils game opened with the Duke Blue Devils listed as (-11.5) point favorites. That number jumped to (-12.5) although 25 percent of the early betting is on the road team.

The Blue Devils will try and put that Miami game behind them as soon as possible. It should be easier to do in front of a home crowd. Duke is 10-0 in home games, and the only one that wasn’t decided by at least 13 points was a 73-68 win over then-No. 4 Ohio State.
The Terrapins meanwhile, have lost 14 of 16 true road games. They’ve dropped 17 straight away from home against Top 25 opponents since beating Wake Forest in the 2009 ACC tournament. The Terps are playing defense, but struggling on offense. Coach Mark Turgeon’s team has held five straight opponents below 37.0 percent from the field but has averaged 55.2 points on 36.9 percent shooting in that span. That solid defense could keep them in this game early but it won’t last for long.
The Terrapins are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games, 0-5 ATS in the last 5 overall, and 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings with Duke. The Blue Devils are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a loss against the spread and should have a much better outing shooting the rock.
In the loss against Miami, Duke only managed to shoot 29.7 percent from the field and 4 of 23 from 3-point range. That number will change as the Blue Devils dominate in a big win against Maryland.
