Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 3 Predictions: Must Win For the Spurs?
The 2013 NBA Finals shift to San Antonio as the Spurs will host the series for the next three games. The Miami Heat are off a blowout victory but still have to win on the road to reclaim home field advantage. With the format of the NBA Finals, game three has become a must win for the home team.
With the series changing home courts there was obviously going to be a big move in the betting line. Sure enough when the best sporttsbook to bet on the NBA playoffs, BetOnline, posted the opening line the Spurs were listed as (-2) point
favorites. This is a line shift of eight points as the Heat was six point favorites in game 2.
Before the series started several experts predicted that the Spurs would win the NBA Championship, but after a difficult loss in game two they may be having second thoughts.

Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 3 Predictions
Because of the NBA Finals format of 2-3-2, the pressure is squarely on the Spurs to win game 3 and I would even go as far as saying that this is a must win. The Spurs were dominated in game two as they could not hold onto the ball. They had 17 turnovers as opposed to 4 in game one and this is very unusual for a Gregg Popovich coached team.
The Spurs also had trouble defending the pick and roll when LeBron James was the screener leaving open shots for Mario Chalmers and other role players from the Heat. James was a distributor hitting an open Mike Miller on more than one occasion for wide open three point shots. The Spurs will need to adjust if they have any open of slowing down the Heat and winning game 3.
The Spurs will also need a much better outing from the suddenly slow and defenseless Manu Ginobili. Everyone recognizes Ginobili is no longer the player he was six or eight years ago, and the best teammates can say after his worst performances nowadays is that even if Ginobili cannot win a game on his own as he once could, at least he does not hurt the team. Nobody could say that after Games 1 or 2. Ginobili was not merely ineffective in those games. He actively damaged his team’s ability to win, and the fact that he was bailed out in Game 1 and that he was just one weak link for San Antonio in a dominating Miami performance in Game 2 does little to hide this fact. Popovich will have to get creative in how he uses his aging superstar or it ultimately could lead to a game 3 loss.
Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 3 Picks
The Spurs will be happy to be at home and playing in front of a rowdy home crowd eager to cheer on their team as they try for another championship. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker will be their usual self, and Popovich will have an answer for the pick and roll that stumped the team in game 2. The Spurs will cut back on their turnovers and the heat role players will return to mediocrity as the Spurs win game 3 to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
