New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks: 2014 NFL Divisional Playoffs Predictions and Picks
The New Orleans Saints finally won a playoff game on the road. After failing to win their last five attempts on the NFL highway in the post season, the Saints were able to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card game to advance to the divisional round of the playoffs. The Saints will be on the road once again and will have to go up against the toughest home team in the NFL and the No. 1 seed in the NFC in the Seattle Seahawks.
The NFL betting line for this game opened with the Seahawks listed as (-7.5) point favorites. The Seahawks trounced the Saints in their regular season visit to the West Coast and that has opened the door for early public betting as over 61 percent of the early wagers are on Seattle. Since the majority of the wagers are on Seattle, this point spread has started to slowly increase and currently the Seahawks are listed as high as (-9) point favorites.

New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks Preview
In the win against the Eagles, the Saints did something different, they ran the ball. Despite not having Pierre Thomas because of a chest injury, the Saints rushed for 185 yards on 36 carries. Seattle shut down the run the
last time these two teams met, but that was before running back Mark Ingram hit his stride. After rushing for only 386 yards during the regular season, Ingram had 97 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries in the wild card game.
The Seahawks offense is sputtering down the stretch and that should be a big concern. Russell Wilson averaged only 171.3 passing yards in the final four regular-season games. He completed only 57.8 percent of his passes during that stretch, much lower than his season average of 63.1. He was sacked 14 times during those four games.
Drew Brees gained some confidence from that road win and will carry that into this game as the Saints no longer are labeled as the team that cannot win on the road. They also now have confidence in their kicking game as Shayne Graham was 4-for-4 on field goals for the Saints.
New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks Trends
The latest football betting trends reveal that the Saints can take advantage of their speed on this playing surface. The Saints are 23-11 against the spread (ATS) in their last 34 games on field turf and that speed will be tested against the Seahawks who are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 playoff games.
New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks Predictions
The Seahawks are considered a lock to go to the Super Bowl, but the Saints are starting gain confidence and will not be intimidated to play in Seattle. In five of the past six years, the NFC’s No. 1 seed has failed to make the Super Bowl and so the odds are against the Seahawks. The Saints pull off the biggest upset of the week and beat the Seahawks.
