The Jacksonville Jaguars were predicted by nearly everyone outside of the state of Florida to struggle this season. Their best player, Maurice Jones-Drew held out and Blaine Gabbert was already being touted a bust. Yet heading into Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Jaguars are looking impressive.
The Jaguars are just 1-2 but could have easily have been 2-1 if not for a squandered lead against the Vikings that ended in overtime. They are off an in incredible win a week ago against the Indianapolis Colts. The Jags rallied very late to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and go home riding a wave of confidence.
That win puts the Jaguars in a system that was profitable a week ago with the Arizona Cardinals. Bet on a home underdog, coming in off an outright win as a road underdog. The theory is that teams will ride the emotion and momentum and win at home.
The opening NFL week 4 odds list the Jaguars as (+1) point dogs in this game. Online sportsbook Just Bet, has the current spread on this game and is giving out a very nice 185% bonus to new signups along with a free entry to a $10,000 contest.
The Bengals are a good passing team and Andy Dalton and AJ Green are hard to stop, but if this team has an Achilles heel it’s the play of the defense. The secondary has yet to get an interception and they have not played against the best signal caller’s in the league. Now they are not going to go up against a stellar quarterback in Gabbert, but because MJD can run the rock, the Bengals defense will be forced to load the box.
This will leave the secondary on isolated coverage and if MJD breaks the front line they will be left all alone to make the tackle. That is a recipe for disaster and if continues his recent of success he will have another big day.
Jones-Drew posted 177 yards on 28 carries against the Colts and Jones-Drew averaged 4.21 yards per carry outside of the touchdown. This is a good sign for a running back that held out for most of training camp.
Now revamped and ready to go, the Jags will win at home against the Bengals.
