The New England Patriots may be the only team in the NFL that can win a big game and be criticized for their play. The Patriots are off a big win against the division rival Jets, but after blowing yet another double-digit win, the team was scrutinized as though they lost.
Patriot fans and the media expect more from Tom Brady and the Patriots who now head overseas to London to play the St. Louis Rams.
Patriots vs. Rams Odds: The Patriots opened up as (-7) point favorites against the Rams and early in the week, the NFL Consensus revealed that 60 percent of the public jumped on the Pats. The Patriots have always been a very popular
team to bet on so this comes as no surprise. For the latest odds in the NFL For Week 8 look at Ucabet, a top-rated sportsbook! The Rams are in a rebuilding mode after hiring Jeff Fisher on as head coach. They already have plenty of talent especially on the defensive side of the ball where they have played well against some of the top tier teams in the NFL.
On offense the Rams have Sam Bradford as quarterback and a decent rushing attack with veteran Steven Jackson running the rock. Recently the Rams have made it clear that they are willing to trade any player to improve the team. With an expiring contract it would seem like Steven Jackson is the most likely candidate to get shipped out.
The Patriots will use the same blueprint that the Packers used a week ago in beating the Rams. The Pats will attempt to exploit Rams cornerback Bradley Fletcher and avoid throwing at Cortland Finnegan. Although the Packers won the game and covered the spread, it should be noted that the Rams were within a botched Bradford play from making it a three point game.
The Patriots also have a habit of blowing big leads and have been outscored 34-6 in the fourth quarter. Dropping seven points at the betting window with a team like that is always risky. The Rams can skewer the Patriots defense and control the ball. Even if they don’t always get in the end zone they can get points with Greg Zuerlein’s big leg.
The Rams are 6-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight games overall and 4-0 ATS in th last four games against a winning record.
With so many distractions on the overseas road trip, the Patriots may win, but the Rams can keep it close to keep the fans entertained.
