San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat Game 6 Predictions

5. Manu is back

Gregg Popovich inserted Manu Ginobili into the starting lineup and he looked like a genius. Ginobili ran all over the court and put up 24 points which is his highest scoring output of the year. He had double digits in assists and his unselfishness attributed to nine points during a late run that sealed the victory in game five. Expect Ginobili to be a big part of game six and it gives another weapon that the Heat have to play for.

4. History

The Spurs winning game five was pivotal for more than one reason. Of the 27 times the finals have been tied at 2-2, the Game 5 winner has won 20 of them. The Heat were in this same predicament in 2011 when they returned to Miami down 3-2 in the Finals to the Dallas Mavericks. They believed their home court would provide the necessary spark for them to even the series. Instead, the night ended with them watching the Mavericks celebrate on their own floor. Since 1985 when the NBA playoff format went to 2-3-2, only three times has the home team rallied from a 3-2 deficit to win game 6 and game 7 to win the title.

3. Heat D is Burnt Out

The Heat defense was dismantled in game five and it has been easily beaten at times in this series. USA Today points out just how bad it has been. The Heat allowed the Spurs to shoot 60% from the field and 40.9% on three-pointers. All five Spurs starters scored in double figures, led by guard Tony Parker’s 26 points and 24 points each from guards Manu Ginobili and Danny Green. During the regular season, Miami only allowed more than 110 points a game three times in non-overtime games. It didn’t happen once from Feb. 26 until the start of the Finals, and the Spurs have dropped 113 and 114 on the Heat in two of the past three games.

2. Spurs Big 4?

This series has been all about the Big 3 for each team. The Heat has James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh while the Spurs have Ginobili, Parker and Duncan. After watching the first five games in the Finals there is good reason to believe that the Spurs have a big 4 when you include Danny Green.

Green set the NBA Finals record when he made his 23rd 3-pointer of the series and the record now sets at 25. Green was able to benefit from the Heat’s defensive focus on Duncan and Parker. He was able to connect on at least three 3-pointers during every game of the NBA Finals and he is now an offensive threat the Heat has to take seriously if they want to win game 6.

1. Heat Big 3 Not Enough?

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade gave it their all in game 5. Both superstars tallied 25 points each and aggressively attacked the rim when they had the chance. Wade distributed the ball nicely racking up ten dimes as he tried to get other members involved. Even Bosh had a nice night with 16 points on 7-11 shooting from the floor. The Heat will need more consistent play from their role players if they are going to win game six. Ray Allen managed 21 points but he hurt the team on defense when he was on the floor. Meanwhile the Spurs got contributions from nearly everyone else on the team outside the “Big3 “.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat Game 6 Picks

The pressure is squarely on the Miami Heat in this series as they head back home. The Spurs have won in Miami once already and will have a game plan to win this series now. The Spurs have more depth and size and it will all come together for the big upset in game six as the Spurs claim another NBA Championship and go down as one of the best teams in history.
