The 2012 MAACO bowl will feature an intriguing matchup as the Washington Huskies and the Boise State Broncos take to the field.
This bowl game is familiar territory for the No. 20 ranked Boise State Broncos. Boise State easily won the last two MAACO Bowls against Utah and Arizona State by a combined 55 points. The only difference in this game is that it will be a day game for the first time in ten years with the kickoff at 1:30 p.m.

This game may be a little bit closer for Boise than previous MAACO bowls, as Washington matches up with Boise State, at least on paper. The Huskies are averaging 210.4 yards per game while Boise State is averaging 216.9. On the scoreboard, the Huskies are putting 23.8 points per outing while Boise State is averaging 30.4 per game.
2012 MAACO Bowl Odds: The betting line opened with the Broncos as (-5.5) point favorites and since then the line has sagged down to (-5) although 62 percent of the public is betting on Boise State.
If there is an edge in this game for the Broncos it has to be on defense.
The Broncos rank in the top 10 in the FBS with 14.9 points and 304.7 yards allowed per game. The unit is led by Demarcus Lawrence with 9 1/2 sacks and 13 1/2 tackles for loss alongside J.C. Percy, Jamar Taylor and Mike Atkinson.
However Washington should not be overlooked. Washington is 30th in total defense and 37th in scoring defense and can handle a Bronco offense that is not as powerful as it has been in the past.
The Huskies offense will be up for the challenge and bring in some firepower. Huskies tight end sophomore Austin Seferian-Jenkins averages 12.6 yards per catch and has found the endzone six times this season. If the Broncos attempt to double cover Seferian-Jenkins than wide receiver Kasen Williams will get loose. Williams hauled in over 700 yards and 6 scores on the season.
The Broncos are 1-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last 5 games following a win and 1-6 ATS when playing a team with a winning record. The Huskies are 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 games on turf and 4-1 ATS in the last five games.
The Huskies had impressive wins over San Diego State, Oregon State, and the top-ranked Stanford Cardinal and will be ready to upset Boise in this bowl game.
2012 MAACO Bowl Predictions: Huskies 28 Broncos 24 (Washington +5.5)
