The NFL season is entering a crucial stretch where teams need to win nearly every game if they have any hopes of making the NFL post season. This is exactly the position that both of these teams are in this week for the Baltimore Ravens vs Washington Redskins game.
Week 14 NFL Odds Baltimore Ravens vs Washington Redskins: The Redskins opened up as PK in this game against the Ravens, but after a hard fought nationally televised victory against the New York Giants, the line quickly shifted to Redskins (-1.5).
Too often when betting on the NFL teams and players will get over valued and that is the current situation with Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. RG3 is a fantastic player and he is ready to have a fantastic career in the NFL but he will not be ready for this game.
RG3 and the Redskins will have to prepare for a physical Ravens team on a short week. The Redskins offense is very impressive this season with the rookie tandem of RG3 and running back Alfred Morris, but the defense is another issue.
The Washington Redskins’ secondary was already a skeleton crew and it took another hit this week.
But it took two more hits Tuesday: Reserve cornerback Cedric Griffin has been suspended for four games — the rest of the regular season — after a violation of the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy. (via USA Today)
The Baltimore Ravens are angry after a loss to a short-handed Pittsburgh Steelers team and they need to win this game. Baltimore can secure a playoff spot and the AFC North division with a victory against the Redskins.
The Ravens can exploit this defense and will be excited to go up against the weak Redskins defense. Quarterback Joe Flacco is 12-6 (.667) against the NFC and has reached 3,000+ pass yards for 4th consecutive season. Ray Rice has also had some success against the NFC with 11 TDs (10 rush, 1 rec.) in 17 games averaging five yards per carry against the NFC.
After basically ignoring Rice in the fourth quarter against the Steelers, Flacco will look for Rice who leads AFC RBs with 49 receptions this season.
The Ravens realize they still have a lot of football left and nothing is certain. “There’s a lot of football left in this season,” says Baltimore running back Rice. “We can still go ahead and win the division. We’re still the defending AFC North division champions. We’ve still got a lot of football left.”
The Ravens are 5-2-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight road games and 3-1-1 ATS in the last five games overall.
The Redskins are too banged up on defense and will not be able to prepare in the short time period to take on a team as demanding as the Ravens. The Ravens rebound from a tough loss and run over the Redskins in Week 14 as the Lock of the Week.
