BYU Back in the Playoff Conversation

Due to cancellations, BYU sought out this game against the No. 18 undefeated Chanticleers. Although BYU has a spotless record, many pundits believe it is not enough to get into the playoff conversation. That will all change with a win in this game. It may not be enough, but a victory here does make a statement.

BYU boasts a defense that is allowing less than 300 yards per game and they have a superstar in the making at quarterback. Zach Wilson leads the offense and leads a fierce offensive attack that is relentless behind one of the best offensive lines in the country. The Cougars have been a good bet against the spread (ATS) as chalk with a 6-2-1 ATS record as a favorite.

Line Up the Number

When the game was announced all of the reputable sportsbooks made the Cougars a 10 point favorite. That line has slightly been adjusted to 10.5, although only 52 percent of the betting is on the road team.

Counting out Coastal Carolina?

Don’t sleep on the Chanticleers. The conversation is all about BYU and they have a shot to make a statement with a win, but what about Coastal Carolina? Freshman Grayson McCall leads the way on offense with 20 touchdowns and just one interception. They play solid on defense ranking 15th by allowing 322 yards per game. They have also played a more difficult schedule and will be at home for this big game.

BYU vs Coastal Carolina Prediction

Both teams will have to adjust game plans quickly for this showdown. BYU has the added pressure of planning travel for this game. Although the Cougars have incredible leadership, this is a difficult task for anyone. The Cougars are just 1-5 ATS in the last 6 games played in December and the Chanticleers are 5-0 ATS in the last five games catching points. BYU may win, but this game is going to be very close.

Chanticleers +10.5

Predictions and College Football Picks for December 5

Before we make our NFL picks we have to focus on college ball. That is why we researched the games, broke out the numbers, and made the College Football Picks for December 5.

BYU vs Coastal Carolina

This is quickly becoming one of the biggest games on the schedule. BYU is trying to make the playoff committee take notice. Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina can shock the world by beating a big named squad, putting their stamp on a fantastic season. Who wins?

Texas AM vs Auburn

The Aggies are giving up 6.5 points on the road, which are too many with the way the offense looked a week ago. Jimbo Fisher cannot afford to see his team fall flat in this game. They will have to remain undefeated if they have any hopes of making the college football playoffs.

Box Nix leads a Tigers team that was dismantled by Alabama but fought to the end. The Tigers are not only 10-3 against the spread (ATS) as a home underdog, in the last six games as a home dog, they have won four of those games outright. This game goes down to the wire and Auburn and the points are the best way to bet on this game.

Stanford vs Washington

The Cardinal come into this game off a big win against Cal. The oddsmakers are not giving them a ton of respect, making them double-digits underdogs against a ranked Washington team. This is the same Huskies team that needed a big comeback to steal a victory against Utah.

Stanford is a good football team, but they have trouble stopping the run. They allow 229 yards per game on the ground which ranks last in the conference.  The Cardinal has been a bad bet failing to cover in its last seven games and posting an ugly 3-12-1 ATS record in the last 16 games overall.

The Huskies are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 games following a game in which they did not cover the spread. They get back on track with a blowout win and a cover over the Cardinal.

Washington -10.5

Texas vs Kansas State

The Longhorns suffered a dreadful loss a week ago against Iowa State. This is the kind of loss that can derail the season for Texas. They now need other teams to lose to play in the Big 12 Championship game. Heading out on the road to play a team on a four game losing streak is a trap game for Texas.

The Longhorns are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite. Kansas State coach Chris Klieman knows how to motivate his team as underdogs. In the four games as a home underdog, the Wildcats are 4-0 ATS with three outright victories. The Wildcats have covered 12 of the last 16 games in this series and are a dangerous underdog once again.

Air Force vs Utah State Predictions

Air Force vs Utah State Predictions and a pick ATS

Since the NFL had a game on Wednesday, there will not be a pro football game on Thursday night. Thankfully college football is ready with a nice doubleheader of action. Louisiana Tech vs North Texas will kick things off, but it’s the second game that caught our attention. This is why we have the Air Force vs Utah State predictions for those that are betting on the nightcap.

Pointing out the spread

Air Force is the prohibitive favorite in this game. They opened up at (-10.5) at many of the best sportsbooks. That number is rising with the flood of money coming in on the road team. Air Force is getting 55 percent of the betting action and the line is now up to (-12.5). If you want to bet on the Falcons we suggest you bet on it now.

Running Down the Numbers

If you are watching a game with the Air Force playing, you can expect a lot of rushes. The Falcons are at the top of the nation with rushing yards per game at 336.5. They usually dominate the line of scrimmage and wear out opposing defenses with a strong running game led by RB Brad Roberts.

The Utah State Aggies do it a bit differently. QB Andrew Peasley was named Mountain West player of the week for an explosive performance in his last outing. He led the way on the ground and through the air with over 452 total yards of offense, a season-high for the Aggies.

Air Force vs Utah State Predictions

So who wins? The Aggies come into this game with plenty of confidence, especially on offense. This is good to have against an Air Force team the loves to dominate time of possession. This is a tough spot for the Falcons who are 0-8 against the spread (ATS) when playing a team with a losing record and 0-5 ATS in the last five games played on Thursday night.

You can wait until kickoff to get the best number as this spread will only go up. Bet on Utah State to keep it close.

Utah State +12.5

Ravens vs Steelers Picks

Wednesday NFL Predictions: Ravens vs Steelers Picks

Finally, game day is here for the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. We have been down this road before, we covered the updates and the changes, but finally, it is game day. For those that want to bet on football, this may be the hardest game to handicap all season. We are trying to make sense of it all for you as we make our Ravens vs Steelers picks for the special Wednesday afternoon NFL game.

Line Watching

If you have watched the spread of this game you have enjoyed a roller-coaster ride. As Week 13 odds came out, this remained on the board. As the dust settles and it is official (for now) that Robert Griffin III is the starter, the Steelers are (-10.5) point favorites in this mid-week matchup. This is an interesting move for multiple reasons.

The news keeps breaking so if you do decide to bet on this game, do it at your own risk. For example, the Ravens found out they had more positive tests on the flight to Pittsburgh!

The Line Tells a Story

The point –spread in this game tells a tale about this game. The Steelers are getting all of the love at the betting window because the Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson and they have been limited in practice. Yet, the Steelers are also in a difficult situation. The players are upset, RB James Conner will be out of this game and they have had to deal with changes in the schedule.

Ravens vs Steelers Picks

So who wins? Normally, this game is a pass, but a mid-week NFL rivalry game will attract plenty of betting action. Therefore, we have to give a pick to all of the people who will be betting on this game.

In the first meeting, the Ravens were able to run against the Steelers. That gameplay will be very effective in this meeting. RGIII is mobile and he can use the run-pass option to open up the Steelers defense and slow down the aggressive Steelers defense. The Ravens are a perfect 4-0 ATS in the last four games as an underdog and 11-5 ATS in the last 16 games against the AFC.

The Ravens may not win this game, but they can keep it close. This inflated spread is overblown due to public perception and Baltimore is the best bet.

Ravens +10.5

College Basketball Predictions for December 1st

Picks from a Bookie: College Basketball Predictions for December 1

You might be focusing on the NFL, but another season is in full swing. The college basketball season has tipped off and if you want to win money during March Madness you have to start handicapping hoops early. At this time of the year, the early tournaments showcase big-named teams and there is an opportunity to scout teams and make money. Our College Basketball Picks for December 1 focuses on sharp money and other angles to watch.

We reached out to a bookie to give us his best bets on the night.

Here they are:

College Basketball Picks for December 1

Michigan State vs Duke

This is what we like to call a trendy dog. The world is betting on Michigan State to win and cover against Duke. This is a common mistake.  Duke at home only giving 3 points is an early Christmas gift. Michigan State is a big-name program and they have a big-name coach. The Spartans are off a big win against Notre Dame.

In that game, they had notable milestones that are hard to duplicate. For example, Junior Forward Joey Hauser had his first career double-double. The Spartans also had a 26-0 run, which is very difficult to duplicate.

Duke had 22 turnovers in the last game against Coppin State. The good coaching staff will make sure that does not happen again.

The Bookies are betting on Duke -3 [BET HERE for a 50% Welcome Bonus!]

Kentucky vs Kansas

This game has recent bias baked into the line. Kentucky looked lousy in a loss and the public is willing to bet against them in this Kansas game. With the public hitting up Kansas, the spread has been bet up to Kansas -4.5.

Kentucky was obviously looking ahead to this game when they lost to Richmond. This is a team that tends to overlook weaker opponents and they play “up” to tougher competition.  Kentucky did not share the ball in that Richmond game with only five assists. If you can find a betting prop for assists by Kentucky, I would bet over. If you like trends there is this. The Wildcats are 4-0 ATS after a loss.

Kansas is still tinkering with lineups and trying to rebuild lineups to face off against other opponents.  This is a game where people are betting on recent events and not overall talent. Don’t make that mistake.

The Bookies are betting on Kentucky +4 [BET HERE to become a VIP Bookie betting expert!]

Who is the public betting on?

The public usually does not win when they bet on football. However, they did have a good win over the holidays. On Thanksgiving, they cashed in by betting on the Texans to beat the lowly Lions. However, if you bet against the public plays we feature in this report you would have a 6-3 against the spread record over the last three weeks. The public is betting early in Week 13 and here is who they are betting on.

Matt Patricia is no longer the head coach in Detroit but that is not stopping the public from betting on the Lions this week. The Bears flopped on Sunday night football and that is the last impression in the public’s mind. So they have no problem betting on Detroit +3 at Chicago.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a public darling. They love to bet on this team every week. They are favorite once again as the Broncos come limping into Kansas City.

Here are the teams the public is betting on this week: Lions, Chiefs, and the Packers. [BET NOW]

Who are the sharps betting on?

The sharps are the smart NFL bettors looking for an edge by betting early in the week. If you followed our plays in this report your record would be 12-5 ATS for a hefty profit. The sharps did not shy away from the games this week and here is who they are betting on.

The sharps are making an early play on the New England Patriots. Cam Newton did not play well, but the win over Arizona is impressive enough. The public is not buying in on the Pats on a west coast trip. Over 65% of the bets in this game are on the Chargers. Although the Bolts are getting the public bets the big money is on the Patriots driving the line from LA -2 to a pick ‘em at most shops.

They also believe that the Falcons will get quick revenge against the Saints in the quick-turnaround rematch. The Saints opened at 3.5 and has been bet down to 3, although 58% of the bets are on New Orleans.

Here are the teams the sharps are betting on this week: Patriots, Falcons, and the Jets. [BET NOW]
