College Basketball Picks for January 4
This is college basketball season. If you are not paying attention to the season already, you are behind. This can come back to haunt you when March Madness begins.
West Virginia vs Oklahoma State
The Mountaineers are one of the top teams in the country and are fresh off an upset loss to Oklahoma. West Virginia gave it their all by coming back from an 18-point deficit, but they were not able to get the win. This is the first game that they played without two players. The Mountaineers lost two forwards in freshman Isaiah Cottrell and sophomore Oscar Tshiebwe. Without those two big players, they had to make adjustments all throughout this game. This is a tough blow for a team that ranks in the top 50 in offensive rebounds. They were outrebounded by the Sooners 41-36. Now they stay in Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Monday night on ESPN 2.
The good news for West Virginia is that Oklahoma State is off an upset that went to overtime and they will have to regroup for this contest. But the Cowboys have the edge playing at home against a Mountaineers team that is 2-5 ATS in the last seven games. Oklahoma State has attempted the second-most free throws among all Big 12 teams, averaging 22.7 free throws per game this season. Oklahoma State’s trio of Cade Cunningham, Isaac Likekele, and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe is hard to stop.
The Mountaineers are still figuring out the inside defensive rotation and the Cowboys will win this game on the free-throw line.
