The Celtics were punishing in the paint, even without the injured Robert Williams. They won the battle of the boards 43-29 and they outscored the Nets in the paint by a score of 56-32. The Celtics played a smothering defense that seemed to bother everyone but Kyrie Irving, however, it should be noted that the Nets hot very well in the game. The Nets shot nearly 54 percent in the game, which is worrisome for the Celtics.

During game one all of the Celtics starters scored at least 20 points and many believe this will be an impossible feat to repeat. However, the Celtics have embraced the team philosophy and Tatum had eight assists proving that he is willing to share the wealth. The referees were calling fouls on nearly every play and that will slow down in game two. Expect another close game, but in the end, the Celtics will pull away with the victory and the cover.
