Monday Night Football Picks: Seahawks vs Eagles Predictions

In the NFL they save the best games for prime-time. Thanksgiving had a good schedule, although the Ravens/Steelers game was moved. The Chiefs vs Buccaneers game may have deserved a primetime slot, but at least the Bears vs Packers is a rivalry game. However, somehow, on Monday Night Football we are going to be treated to a game featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles. It has lost a little of its luster with the problems in Philadelphia, but we still made our Seahawks vs Eagles predictions.

Sportsbook Need This Game

We pointed out early last week in our Sharps vs Squares betting action report, that the Seahawks are a popular bet this week. Not much has changed as we approach kickoff. Over 65 percent of the bets are coming in on the road team and it is obvious that the sportsbooks are cheering for the Eagles. The spread has jumped over two points and can now bet at Seattle -5 at the majority of high roller sportsbooks.

Bench Wentz?

The biggest debate in Philadelphia is whether or not the Eagles should bench quarterback Carson Wentz. Many argue that is not all on the quarterback since they have had a slew of injuries on offense. Others will argue that his numbers are so bad that they have no other choice, but to bench Wentz. The Seahawks had a few players chime in on the debate.

This can be the sort of “bulletin board material” that the Eagles need to get motivated for this Monday night matchup.

Run Eagles Run

The Eagles have been behind in many games this season which has made it difficult to feature the run. But when the Eagles run, they do it well. The Eagles are third in the league in rush average at 5.0 and RB Miles Sanders has the second-highest rush average in the league. Philly may have a difficult time running against a Seahawks defense that is fourth in rushing yards allowed. This again puts the pressure squarely on Wentz to get the win.

Wilson and the Deep Ball

Russell Wilson has an arm and he likes to use it. Wilson can air it out on any given play to DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett. It would seem like the Seahawks may have success against an Eagles team that is ranked 20th in pass defense DVOA, but not deep. The Eagles are actually solid at defending deep passes and are third in the NFL at giving up pass plays of 20 or more yards. Chris Carson is expected to be back for Seattle, but the Eagles rank a respectable 11th in the league allowing only 4.2 yards per rush.

Seahawks vs Eagles Predictions

This is a must-win for the Eagles. Not only are they still alive for the NFC East division, but they have to take some pressure off of Went and off the team. The Seahawks have wilted under the lights of late. In the last four road games under the primetime lights, Seattle is just 1-3 both straight-up and ATS. On the other hand, the Eagles are 8-1 in the last nine games at home in primetime.  The Eagles will get the upset victory and win on Monday night football.
