You cannot have a Buccaneers vs Patriots preview without discussing the point-spread. The Buccaneers are one of the best teams in the NFL, but the Patriots do have the home-field advantage. However, the oddsmakers realize that Tampa will be the popular play. That is why the Bucs opened as (-6.5) point favorites in this marquee game. [BETNOW]
Why the Buccaneers Wil Win
The Buccaneer’s secondary may be a weak spot, but Mac Jones showed against the Saints that he is not ready yet. Jones looked out of sync and often just flat-out missed his receivers. The run game stalled against the Saints and if they cannot move the ball on the ground against Tampa, Jones will be in big trouble. The Patriots have lost three home games by 15 or more points since 2020 and they are not the same team since Brady left. The Buccaneers are 5-0 against the spread (ATS) after a loss and Brady will leave New England with a win.
Why the Patriots Will Win
Tom Brady is beatable. The Rams showed how to take down Brady as they snapped his streak of scoring 30 or more points. The Patriots defense has impressed this season and they can force the Buccaneers to settle for field goals. Bill Belichick has been waiting for this rematch and he will flex his skills in this chess match. If there is one spot that the Patriots thrive, it’s the underdog role. The Patriots are 11-5 ATS as an underdog and 9-2 ATS as a home underdog. The Pats make Mac Jones comfortable in a shorter offensive scheme and they pull off an upset and send Brady home.
