Atlanta Hawks vs. Utah Jazz Matchup Preview (11/09/2021)
By: Max Heering
The 4-6 Atlanta Hawks will have a difficult road matchup in the 7-3 Utah Jazz. They are coming off a tough 121-117 loss to the Phoenix Suns. The Hawks offense played well in the loss with five players scoring double-digits points. Trae Young was a stud in that game with his 31 points and 13 assists. John Collins also had a double-double with his 26 points and 10 rebounds. The Suns shot the ball just a little bit better than the Hawks to win the game.

The Utah Jazz are second in the Western Conference with their 7-3 record. They surprisingly lost to the rebuilding Orlando Magic on the road 107-100 in their last game. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert both scored 21 points in that game. The Jazz really struggled from behind the three-point line only hitting 8 of 42 three-point attempts.
Hawks vs. Jazz Predictions
I think the Hawks will start stringing some wins together soon, but it will not start tonight. They are playing a Jazz team that has an uncanny ability to win regular season games. This is most evident in their 52-20 record last season (the best record in the NBA).
The simple fact of the matter is that the Hawks defense is struggling to limit opposing offenses’ scoring. This Hawks team has shown that they know how to score at will, but they need to figure out how to stop other teams from scoring at will. The Jazz, on the other hand, cannot score with as much ease as the Hawks, but they have a top defense in the NBA led by defensive anchor Rudy Gobert. The Jazz will win because their defense knows how to make stops.
