Hours before the start of NBA free agency the biggest bombshell is delivered from a player that is not a free agent. Kevin Durant is requesting a trade. Durant is arguably the best player on the planet and if the reports are true, he wants out of Brooklyn.Durant has four years left on his deal, which means every team in the league will take a swing at this big superstar.

Like everything that happens on the eve of the free agency period, you can’t always believe the information. But in this case, the source is reliable. 

But in the high stakes of the NBA world, any report may have been forced out by a player or an agent. This news is particularly interesting since Kyrie Irving recently signed to stay on the team. It is easy to connect Durant with that news and even easier to connect Durant with a number of teams that will be interested in his services. 

KD and Kyrie?

Rumors are flying about where Durant and Kyrie will play next season. Some rumors speculate that they will team up and join another franchise as a package deal. This will not happen. Carry on.

Where does he play?

Everyone wants Kevin Durant on their team. Although every team is interested, there are not many teams that have the assets to get it done. If Brooklyn is going to part ways with Durant they are going to ask for a bundle. Here are the teams that will be rumored to land the superstar. 

Don’t even think about the Lakers. They just don’t have the assets to get it done.

Kevin Durant Trade Request and the Contenders 

It did not take long for NBA fans to Photoshop Durant into their favorite jersey. The leading sportsbooks quickly posted odds on where Durant will play next season, and here is the list of the top contenders.

Golden State Warriors

This may be the most popular landing spot on the rumor mill, but Durant has no reason to return to Golden State. The Warriors will not give up big assets to get Durant and have many reasons to believe they can without him. Anything is possible, but this will not happen. 

Boston Celtics

This does not make much sense because Boston will have to blow up the team and lose the core pieces to acquire Durant. Depending on the asking price (which will be steep), the Celtics may actually take a step back by getting Durant. 

Philadelphia 76ers

This is an interesting landing spot. The Sixers have assets and room to move since James Harden did not sign his option. Philly will have to give up key pieces, but they can make this fit.  However, the Nets are unlikely to send Durant to Philly unless they give up the world. 

Best Bet

Phoenix Suns 

Durant has given the Nets a list of preferred teams and the Phoenix Suns are on that list. This makes sense. They have the assets and can add Deandre Ayton in the deal. Durant joins a contender and can go up against LeBron and the Lakers and Steph and the Warriors on a regular basis. This is a win/win for Durant and the Nets and is the best landing spot if they trade Durant.

Miami Heat

Pat Riley and the Heat have a way of luring superstars to South Beach. Although they will have to part ways with some serious talent, this is a move that makes sense. Durant will make the Heat the favorites to win it all and Durant will have plenty of support. If any team can pull off this trade it’s the Miami Heat. 

The NBA free agency period is always fast and furious and this year will be no exception. With Durant in the mix, this will be the best one ever.

What 2022 NFL team will have the better season? The Lions or Bears?

When fans enter a new season they always have optimism. That is true for the 2022 NFL team that enters this year with high hopes of winning. The Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears are teams on the rise, but they still have a long way to go.

A look at the Lions

It all starts with new head coach Dan Campbell. He leads a team of players that are willing to go through a wall for him. The hard play paid off for sports bettors who put some money on Detroit last year. The Lions were an underdog in every game last year but put up an 11-6 record against the spread. Although the Lions managed to get just three wins, this shows that they kept all of the games relatively close. They followed that up by drafting a local product in defensive stud Aidan Hutchinson. He can play on day one and change the game.

They played hard all season for him and they come into this season vastly improved. But the Lions will need consistent play from quarterback Jared Goff. The offensive line is stout and when healthy, running back D’Andre Swift is one of the best young players in the game. This team still has holes to fill but is heading in the right direction.

A look at the Bears

It is all about Justin Fields. Fields are the future of this franchise and this young quarterback is poised to return the Bears to greatness. The Bears helped Fields by parting ways with head coach Matt Nagy, and hopefully, the new coaching staff will develop Fields.  But they parted ways with longtime veteran WR Allen Robinson II leaving Fields looking for a go-to target. The rebuild may bring energy to this franchise, but it won’t be easy.

On defense, they traded Khalil Mack making it clear that the Monsters of the Midway are in rebuild mode. Overall the Bears had a lifeless free agency period and did little to nothing to improve a team desperately in need of assistance.

What the odds say

On the surface, it seems like the Bears are the better team, but this is mostly due to how the teams have fared in the past. The offseason hype is clearly backing Detroit, but what do the odds say? There is no need to look at the Super Bowl odds because both teams are not going to come close to winning. But there are other odds that paint an interesting picture.

According to sportsbook MyBookie, the teams are very close. The Bears are +960 to win the NFC North, while the Lions are +970. The Bears are +5000 to win the NFC and the Lions are +5200.

According to BetOnline, both the Lions and the Bears are projected to win 6.5 games with the juice favoring the over. Essentially the two teams are nearly even in every category.

And the better team will be……

The Detroit Lions and it will not be close. The Bears are going to have growing pains as they build around Fields. They have a new coach and new systems and it will take time for the Bears to be competitive again. Meanwhile, the Lions have consistency and are headed in a positive direction. Detroit is excited about their football team again. They may not win the Super Bowl, but don’t be surprised if they make a run at the playoffs.

The Detroit Lions will be better than the Chicago Bears this year.

Kyrie Irving decided to opt into the final year of his $37 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn fans are ready to make a run at the title with this team with Kyrie back. Kyrie vs Steve Nash

Kyrie does not like Steve Nash. It has been widely reported that Irving and Nash have issues. At one point Irving refused to practice for Nash and ran his own practice after the Nets left the court. This blatant disrespect will cause a problem on the court and with other players. This type of negative energy can spread and tear ap[art a team.

Can’t count on Kyrie

It is clear that Kyrie is in it for himself. He does not play when he does not want to play and he lets his personal issues and feelings get in the way of coming together as a team. Technically Kyrie is playing for a contract with this opt-in, but can you trust him? The minute he is unhappy he will skip games and request a trade. He already basically forced James Harden out of town and he may do the same to other players.

Other intangibles

Sportsbooks have the Nets as 7-to-1 favorites to win the NBA Championship. But Irving is not the only problem. Can you trust Ben Simmons enough to play a full season? Simmons checked out physically and mentally and has not been back since. The Nets will need Simmons if they want to win.

Better beat Brady

The obvious problem with the Panthers is that they play in the same division as Tom Brady, the best NFL player on the planet. The Carolina Panther’s odds show that this team will not win the division and they will not make the playoffs. That will change with Baker leading the squad.

Say goodbye to Sam

Panthers pass catcher Robbie Anderson made a reference to retirement this week that went viral. He clarified that his statement was in support of current QB Sam Darnold. This is not the first time that Anderson has displayed his displeasure for acquiring Baker.  But if Sam is on the Browns that would completely change things in Carolina camp and could lead to a difficult season.

Baker can make Carolina better. He has a huge chip on his shoulder after being shunned by the Browns. His stats are better and the Panthers are in a win-now mode. If Baker fails, the Panther fans will get excited about the expectations of rookie Matt Corral. Outside of the money, it’s a win for the Panthers. 2nd Place: Arizona Cardinals

Let’s face it, the season for Arizona this year will come down to how Kyler Murray plays. The Cardinals have yet to sign him to an extension and he will start the year without DeAndre Hopkins who is suspended for six games. The Cardinals did sign Hollywood Brown, giving Murray a familiar weapon. But it will not be enough to win the disvion. The Cardinals lost too many pieces on defense and they will make the race for the NFC West close, but will fall short.

LA Rams will win the NFC West

It is very difficult to repeat as Super Bowl champions, but the LA Rams just might be the team to do it. They are that good and they bring back the uspporting cast that is famailiar with the game plan. Sean McVay made sure that the key pieces like Matthew Stafford and Aaron Donald stayed on this champioship squad. It is not a bold or surprising selection, but the Rams will win the NFC West.

What team shows up
