Schedule and 2020 NBA Christmas Day Picks
New Orleans Pelicans at Miami Heat, 12 p.m. ET
The Miami Heat went to the Finals a year ago and are already overrated when it comes to the NBA betting odds. When the Heat was listed as 5 point favorites in the first game on Christmas Day, the public game running. However, the Pelicans now have a healthy Zion Williamson and a new coach in Stan Van Gundy.
Zion plays his first Christmas Day and that is a big event for everyone. This team also has some veteran help with players like Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams. The early game on Christmas day is usually low scoring. Both teams adjust for an early start and the distractions of a holiday do not help with preparation. The Pelicans will keep this close, but the best bet in this game is under the betting total.

Golden State Warriors at Milwaukee Bucks, 2:30 p.m. ET
The Golden State Warriors were throttled in the opener against the Brooklyn Nets. The Warriors were able to get plenty of rest as coach Steve Kerr emptied his bench for most of the game. That loss moved the point-spread in this game as the Bucks are now 9 point favorites in this game. Over 79 percent of the public is on the Bucks in this game, which is good enough to move this line two points.
The Good news for the Warriors is that rookie James Wiseman played like a superstar with 19 points and six boards in the opener. Dating back to last season the Warriors are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 road games, which is impressive considering how bad they were a year ago. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the best player in the NBA and the addition of Jrue Holiday is a great fit. However, the Bucks will not win in blowout fashion.

Brooklyn Nets at Boston Celtics, 5 p.m. ET
This is the game that we are all waiting for. Kyrie Irving returns to Boston. It will not be the same without a roaring fan base, but it makes for good TV. The Net’s big win against the Warriors excites the Brooklyn fan base and they are betting on the Nets to win it all. In fact, the Nets are the most popular play (86%) of the day and the Celtics have shifted from a one-point favorite to a 2 point underdog.
The Celtics will not have Kemba Walker in the lineup, but the real edge is on defense. Marcus Smart leads the way and this team will be able to keep the Nets in check. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the best young duo in hoops and this is their chance to show they can play with the best.
The Celtics are 22-8 ATS in the last 30 games as an underdog and they will beat the Nets.

Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers, 8 p.m. ET
The Lakers get the prime-time game against the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron James and company started out with an ugly loss on opening night. This is not a surprise. The Lakers are known for their slow starts. LeBron hurt his ankle and played little minutes in the loss to the Clippers.
Luka Doncic is a realistic MVP candidate and is a joy to watch. But they are just 2-7 ARS in the last nine road games dating back to last season. They also are a woeful 2-6 ATS in the last eight games as an underdog. LeBron acknowledges that Doncic is the next great player and he looks forward to this matchup. He made a point of announcing that despite the injury, he will be ready for this game.
The Lakers start slow UNLESS they have a reason to get up for a big game. This is that game. Montrezl Harrell is a wonderful addition that is already paying off. This is the game where LeBron reminds everyone who the MVP is.

Los Angeles Clippers at Denver Nuggets, 10:30 p.m. ET
This is a rematch of the Western Conference Semifinals, but be careful before you jump on that revenge angle. The small spread will make it tempting to back the Clippers who easily defeated the Lakers in the opener. But this is Denver and they have the best home-court advantage in the NBA, with or without fans. They are 48-38-1 as a home underdog against a team that made the playoffs the previous season and they are 10-4-1 ATS in the last 15 as a home underdog overall.
Jamal Murray is a bonafide superstar and this team still feels disrespected despite the success a season ago. They are deep with Bol Bol and Michal Porter Jr and this is a team that deserves respect. On Christmas night they get it with a big win against the Clippers.
