Texas Bowl Odds and Trends

At first, it may seem surprising that the Tigers are five-point underdogs to the Wildcat. After all the Tigers play in the SEC and are one of the best football programs in the country. LSU is also 5-1 ATS in the last six bowl games and 3-1-1 ATS in the last five games that Vegas has made the Tigers underdogs. But there is a very good reason that Kansas State is favored in this game.

LSU is depleted

To make it as simple as possible, LSU does not have a lot of players in this game. They took only 39 players who were on scholarship at the start of the year to this bowl game. The Tigers will be without a single scholarship quarterback for this game. LSU will look to walk-on quarterbacks to fill the role and may even use wide receivers in a wildcat formation to generate offense. They will also be under the guidance of interim coach Brad Davis who is doing his best to motivate a team currently void of talent.
