Duke’s Mayo Bowl

North Carolina vs South Carolina

Nothing like starting the day off with a good old-fashioned border war! Unfortunately for the Gamecocks, this is a mismatch. The Tar Heels have Sam Howell at QB, an experienced junior that is most likely heading to the NFL, which makes this his swan song. Meanwhile, South Carolina is under first-year coach Shane Beamer and they are still building the program. There is only one problem. The Tar Heels cannot play defense. North Carolina has the 101st-ranked scoring defense and that is not good for a team trying to cover by 10 points.  The Tar Heels have covered just twice in the last seven games and the Gamecocks will keep it close.

TransPerfect Music City Bowl

Tennessee vs Purdue

This game had the potential to be one of the best of the day, but Purdue will be missing its two best players. They will take the field without WR David Bell and DE George Karlaftis. Although Purdue has plenty of talent left to play, they will feel the loss of these two standout players. The Boilermakers are 2-6 ATS in the last eight bowl games and the Vols are 4-1 ATS in the last five games as a favorite. Give the points and take the Vols to get a double-digit win.

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

Pittsburgh vs Michigan State

The battle between the Panthers and the Spartans is indeed the best bowl game of the day. However, two stars will not be playing in this game. Pittsburgh will be without QB Kelly Pickett and the Spartans will be without RB Kenneth Walker III. QB Nick Patti will get the start for Pittsburgh, but he has attempted just 14 passes on the season. That’s not the experience you are looking for when betting on a team in a bowl game. The Panthers are 1-4 ATS as an underdog and in the last five bowl games.

Mel Tucker is making big changes in East Lansing and as a well-respected coach. He will be able to motivate this team in this game. They have multiple running backs that can fill in for Walker. The Spartans are 8-2-2 ATS in the last 12 games overall and they will be the more focused team.

Bet the Spartans -2.5

SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl

Wisconsin vs Arizona State

The nightcap is worth the watch. The Wisconsin Badgers go into battle with the Arizona State Sun Devils. The Badgers were rolling right along until they got thumped by Minnesota to end the season. That is a hangover that is tough to overcome. The Badgers are 2-7 ATS after a loss and will try to recover in this bowl game. The Badger’s strength is running the ball, but Arizona State held three of the last four opponents to under 100 yards rushing.

Arizona State has covered 8 of the last ten games against the Big Ten and that is due to a contrast of styles. QB Jayden Daniels is eager to prove himself. After a season that started out with Heisman hype, he is now a forgotten man. That changes with a big performance against Wisconsin. The Pac-12 has struggled in bowl games, but this is the exception.
