2021 NFL Playoffs Predictions: The Bills Will Lose to the Colts

The NFL playoffs are about to begin! The best part of the playoffs is predicting what will happen and betting on the results. Everyone looks at the odds, fills out brackets, and makes best bets for the postseason. But only the sharp handicappers can uncover the best bets and the upsets in the first round and we have found one. Our boldest of the 2021 NFL Playoffs Predictions is that the Bills will lose to the Colts.

Betting Against the Bills

Betting against the Buffalo Bills is not a good idea. They are one of the hottest teams in the National Football League and they are on a hot streak. QB Josh Allen jumped into the MVP conversation and Stephon Diggs is arguably the best receiver in football. They have won six straight games and all of the wins have been by ten points or more. So why bet against the Bills? The Colts play better against teams with a winning record and are 15-7 against the spread (ATS) in that role. But there is more.

Count on the Colts

Outside of the opening loss to the Jaguars, the Colts have only lost to playoff teams. They have a credible head coach and an experienced quarterback in Phillip Rivers. The public is pounding Buffalo is the most popular play on Saturday. (Yes more popular than Tom Brady) Finally, the Colts defense is better than the teams that the Bills have faced down the stretch. The Bills faced a banged-up Steelers defense and a wounded 49ers defense. This will be the best unit that they have faced all season. The Colts play well on the road with a 4-1 ATS record in the last five home games.

The Game plan

Allen is the key to the Bill’s offensive game plan. He has been responsible for 76% of their offense and the Colts can get after him by shutting down the run. The Colts will use bracket coverage which is essentially a design that puts two defenders on one receiver. That will keep Diggs in check.

2021 NFL Playoffs Predictions

The Colts have the experience of playing in the postseason. This line is incredibly inflated. It should be 3.5, but it opened up at 7 and now it has dropped to 6.5. The public is on the Bills, but the spread is dropping which is a clear indication that the smart money is on Indianapolis. That is all I need to know that the Colts will cover and win on Saturday.

Coaching Matters

There is no disputing that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are better than the Washington Football team. The same can be said for the quarterback position since it is obvious that Tom Brady is better than Alex Smith. However, the coaching comparison is not as easy to decide. Ron Riveria has turned around the Washington franchise in just one year, bringing back pride to the forgotten franchise. As a head coach Bruce Arians is successful in the NFL, although he has a different approach. The overall edge belongs to Riveria, but Arians has the X-factor and that is Tom Brady.

This has not stopped people from betting on Washington. Not only in this game but to win more games in the playoffs.

On the Cold Road

The Buccaneers have to play at Washington in this game and the weather is expected to be cold. Brady is used to the cold, but it’s not winning that matters, it’s covering the spread.  The key to picking a winner in this game is looking at the betting total. The under in outdoor playoff games is 81-60-4 and that points to a low scoring game. If this game does not produce too many points, betting on an underdog getting ten points is pretty tempting.

Alex Smith is not playing, but that does not mean that Washington is not worthy of a bet.

The strength for Washington is upfront on defense. Football Outsiders ranks Washington No. 2 in the NFL in both pass defense and overall defense entering the last week of the season. Brady is a master of getting rid of the ball quickly, but the deep concepts pushed by Arians may provide a problem. Alex Smith is the answer at quarterback and if Washington wants to win they have to get off to a quick start. The Buccaneers have been outscored 100-88 in the first quarter in games this season.

Most of the betting trends in this game are irrelevant because it was before Brady or before Riveria taking over in Washington, but there is one that stands out. The Football Team are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog, which means they love playing the underdog role. Can the Ravens Stop Derrick Henry?

Although many will suggest that Washington vs Tampa Bay is the best game of the week, this game will be close. Unless the Ravens cannot stop the run. If any team is going to beat the Titans it all starts with Derrick Henry. The bruising back amassed over 2,000 yards this season and is nearly impossible to take down. Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh’s focus for this week is on tackling. This makes sense considering that Derrick Henry has 217 rushing yards after contact in his past two games against the Ravens. The Ravens are not alone as every team in the NFL has trouble tackling Henry. Last year in the playoffs, Henry gobbled up 195 yards on 30 carries against the Ravens, which included 127 yards after the first contact.

The Money Down

The Ravens are favored in this game, although they are on the road. That is an interesting tidbit considering how well that Tennessee has played this season. In order to win the big games you have to succeed on the money down, aka, third down and that is where the Ravens excel. The Ravens finished the season with a third-down conversion rate of nearly 50% which is good enough to rank 4th in the NFL. Over the last four regular-season games, that number rose to 64%. Although the Ravens played some easier teams to end the season, when it comes to the money down, they are money.

NFL Playoffs predictions 2021This will be one of the best games of the playoffs. Although others have made the Ravens the best bet in this game, I am going to side with the Titans. The Titan’s defense is a weakness, but they do play well in the red zone and that is where the Ravens have issues. In the last two outings against the Titans, the Ravens are just 2 of 8 in the red zone. You can’t win a playoff game settling for field goals. The Ravens are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings. and the Titans are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wildcard games.

Los Angeles Clippers at Denver Nuggets, 10:30 p.m. ET

Public Betting Baltimore

The Ravens demolished the Dallas Cowboys on national television, sow everyone believes that they are back and ready to go. Buying in on Buffalo

The Bills are often underestimated, but not anymore. When this point spread was first released, Buffalo was an underdog. Looking for Lamar

Until recently it was unclear if the Ravens would have reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson under center. Backup Robert Griffin III was placed on injured reserve and the only available QB was third-stringer, Trace McSorley. There is no need to make this any harder than it has to be. The Ravens will dominate the line of scrimmage and establish the run. This will allow the team to put up points and to control the time of possession. The Cowboys have only covered the spread once in the last seven road games and they will not be able to keep up. You have to know that Dez Bryant is ready to show his old team that he can still play by scoring touchdown.

The Ravens play better as the year goes on (5-0 ATS in December) and they get a convincing win to stay in the playoff hunt.
