Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns Matchup Preview

Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns Matchup Preview (11/17/2021)

By Max Heering

The 9-4 Dallas Mavericks will face the 10-3 Phoenix Suns on the road on Wednesday. The Suns are second in the Western Conference, and the Mavericks are third in the Western Conference, but they are not receiving much media coverage. The Suns are coming off a 99-96 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Neither team shot well; Both hit less than 40% of their shots. Devin Booker led the Suns in scoring with 29 points, and Chris Paul had 21 points and eight assists. Deandre Ayton may have been their most impactful player with a 22 point, 12 rebound double-double.

The Dallas Mavericks are coming off a 111-101 win against the Denver Nuggets. Kristaps Porzingis led the Mavericks in scoring with 29 points and also had 11 rebounds. Luka Doncic was two rebounds away from a triple-double with 23 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists. The Mavericks shot the ball a little better than Nuggets from the field and behind the three-point line in this game, which is why they won.

Mavericks vs. Suns Predictions

This will be a close and exciting game. These teams have almost the same record, but the Suns have a lot of momentum right now from their nine-game winning streak and will be playing at home. I cannot underestimate the momentum that the Suns have right now. They have not had the most challenging schedule, but winning nine games in a row is a feat no matter what.

I do not speak so highly of the Suns to bring down the Mavericks. They are also an excellent team, but they are not riding a high from a nine-game winning streak. Bet on the Suns.

My Prediction: Suns 111, Mavericks 106.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Milwaukee Bucks Matchup Preview

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Milwaukee Bucks Matchup Preview (11/17/2021)

By Max Heering

The 8-7 Los Angeles Lakers and the 6-8 Milwaukee Bucks have both been underperforming this year. The Lakers are dealing with many injuries; notably, Lebron James’ injury and the Bucks are coping with the injuries of Khris Middleton and Brook Lopes.

The Lakers are coming off a 121-103 blowout to the Chicago Bulls. Talen Horton-Tucker led the Lakers in scoring with 28 points, but Russell Westbrook was the most impactful player with his 25 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. Unfortunately, the Lakers shot horribly from behind the three-point line, only making 6/32 shots.

Read all of our NBA previews and predictions against the spread and cash in on our free winners!

The Bucks are coming also coming off a blowout loss. They lost to the Atlanta Hawks 120-100. Giannis Antetokounmp led the Bucks with 26 points. However, the Bucks struggled to rebound the ball and only had 26 defensive rebounds and four offensive rebounds. On the other hand, the Hawks had 36 defensive rebounds and 15 offensive rebounds. Those 15 offensive rebounds resulted in 13 more shots taken by the Hawks.

Lakers vs. Bucks Prediction

This is a challenging game to call because both teams are dealing with injuries. However, I have to give the upper hand to Bucks because their injuries are less impactful than the Lakers. The Bucks have not been playing well, but they still have time to turn it around. They are also playing at home and against a Los Angeles Lakers team that does not play strong defense.

The Lakers have looked kind of lost without Lebron James. They have been losing games against bad teams and getting blown out by good teams. The Lakers also have time to turn it around, but that will not start until Lebron James returns.

My Prediction: Bucks 108, Lakers 102.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz Matchup Preview

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Utah Jazz Matchup Preview (11/16/2021)

By Max Heering

On Tuesday night, the 8-6 Philadephia 76ers will face the 8-5 Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. The 76ers have now lost four games in a row after their 118-113 Saturday night defeat to the Indiana Pacers. Tobias Harris led the 76ers in scoring and had a double-double with his 32 points and 11 assists. Tyrese Maxey also played well with 24 points in an impressive 43 minutes. The 76ers took a lot of shots but struggled to hit them. They only hit 42.7% of their shots from the field.

The Utah Jazz have lost the last two games after their 111-105 defeat to the Miami Heat on Saturday. Bogdan Bogdanovic scored an efficient 26 points in 28 minutes. Donovan Mitchell also contributed 22 points and six rebounds. Unfortunately, the Jazz chose to live and by the three-point shot in that game. They took 53 of them and only made 17. They also had ten fewer rebounds than the 76ers.

76ers vs. Jazz

The 76ers are one of the most injured teams in the NBA right now. They will be playing without Matisse Thybulle, Grant Riller, Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and possibly Danny Green. Tobias Harris recently returned to the lineup, which helps, but he is not the best player on his team.

On the other hand, the Jazz are only playing without Rudy Gay. Even though they lost the last two games, they are an excellent regular-season team. If both teams were full strength, I might lean the 76ers way. However, since that is not the case, I will give the upper hand to the Jazz. The 76ers will, however, keep it close.

My Prediction: Jazz 113, 76ers 106.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers Matchup Preview

San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers Matchup Preview (11/16/2021)

By Max Heering

On Tuesday night, the 4-9 San Antonio Spurs will face the 8-5 Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. The Spurs are coming off a 114-106 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Keldon Johnson led all Spurs in scoring with 24 points. Devin Vassell and Thaddeus Young also contributed 19 and 17 points, respectively. Dejounte Murray had a great game and was their most impactful player. He ended with a 22 point, ten rebound, ten assist triple-double. The Spurs shot the ball well, but not as well as the Lakers; they hit 44.4% of their shots compared to the Lakers 51.8%.

Read all of our NBA previews and predictions against the spread and cash in on our free winners!

The Los Angeles Clippers are also coming off a loss. They lost to the Chicago Bulls 100-90 in their last game. Paul George had a 27 point, 11 rebound double-double. Eric Bledsoe also shot the ball well and ended with 21 points. The Clippers shot a perfect 21-21 from the free-throw line, but struggled to hit shots from the field. They only hit 35.8% of their field goals.

Spurs vs. Clippers Predictions

The Spurs do not have any All-Stars on their team this year. Keldon Johnson and Dejounte Murray are solid players, but they are not enough to lead them to a playoff spot. On the other hand, the Clippers are dealing with the injuries of Jason Preston, Marcus Morris Sr., and Kawhi Leonard, but still, they have Paul George leading their team.

I expect the Spurs to keep it close, but the Clippers will simply be too much for them and return to their winning ways. Watch out for another big game from Paul George.

My Prediction: Clippers 108, Spurs 101.

Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Matchup Preview

Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Matchup Preview (11/15/2021)

By Max Heering

On Monday, the 6-8 Indiana Pacers have the tough matchup of beating the 7-6 New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden. The Pacers struggled to start the season strong but have now won two games in a row after beating the Philadelphia 76ers 118-113 on Saturday. The Pacers came out strong in their last game scoring 32 points in the first quarter. Justin Holiday led all Pacers in scoring with 27 points off the bench. Holiday may have led the Pacers in scoring, but Malcolm Brogdon was the most impactful player with his 13 points, ten rebounds, ten assist triple-double. The Pacers were outrebounded but shot the ball well. There were 14/28 from behind the three-point line and hit 57.3% of their total shots.

Read all of our NBA previews and predictions against the spread and cash in on our free winners!

The Knicks are coming off a 104-96 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Kemba Walker scored 26 points in 31 minutes. The Knicks turned the ball over 19 times in that game, but that is not the main reason they lost. They hit less than 40% of their shots and went 11/18 from the free-throw line. The Knicks poor shooting is the main reason they lost.

 Pacers vs. Knicks Predictions

These two teams are pretty evenly matched, but Madison Square Garden is a challenging place to win on the road. That is the main reason why the Knicks are going to win. The Knicks roster is not much better than the Pacers; they are slightly deeper, but the Pacers have a younger and quicker team.

This game will be close, but the Knicks fans in Madison Square Garden know how to make life difficult for opposing teams. Bet on the Knicks.

My Prediction: Knicks 95, Pacers 92.

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Matchup Preview

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Matchup Preview (11/15/2021)

By Max Heering

The 6-7 Boston Celtics will face the 9-5 Cleveland Cavaliers on the road for the second time in three days. The Celtics lost to the Cavaliers 91-89 a couple of days ago. Dennis Schroder led the Celtics in scoring with 28 points. Center Robert Williams also played well with his 12 points, 16 rebound double-double in the loss. The Celtics struggled to keep the ball in their hands and turned it over 19 times in this game.

Read all of our NBA previews and predictions against the spread and cash in on our free winners!

The Cleveland Cavaliers were not expected to win this game, and for most of the game, it looked like they were not going to. They were down 74-62 going into the fourth quarter. However, they proceeded to outscore the Celtics 29-15 in the fourth quarter. Darius Garland led the Cavaliers in scoring with 26 points. Ricky Rubio had a productive game off the bench; he scored 16 points and had seven assists and five rebounds.

Celtics vs. Cavaliers Predictions

I picked the Celtics to win the last game, and I will pick them again. Josh Richardson and Al Horford are game-time decisions for the Celtics, but I think they will play. The Cavaliers are dealing with a couple of notable injuries. Kevin Love and Lauri Markannen may play tomorrow. However, they are still in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, so I do not expect them to play. More importantly, Collin Sexton is injured, and that is a tremendous loss for the Cavaliers.

The Celtics are also hungry for a win against the team that just beat them. They still have a lot of good players and a strong roster, so I would expect them to come out aggressive tomorrow night and make life difficult for the Cavaliers. Bet on the Celtics.

My Prediction: Celtics 93, Cavaliers 90.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs Matchup Preview

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs Matchup Preview (11/12/2021)

By: Max Heering

The 5-3 Las Vegas Raiders will be playing the 5-4 Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday Night Football this week. The Raiders were mired in scandal last week after former Raider Henry Ruggs III was arrested and charged with a DUI resulting in death as well as reckless driving. The Raiders cut him immediately, but I am sure that sent a lot of the team into a tailspin. They ended up losing last week’s game 23-16 against a not-so-great New York Giants team. Quarterback Derek Carr threw two interceptions and neither one of the running backs found their way into the end zone.

Get a look at all of our free NFL Picks Against the Spread for week 10.

The Kansas City Chiefs won their game last week, but in a very unimpressive way. They beat an Aaron Rodgersless Green Bay Packers team 13-7. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for a measly 166 yards and one touchdown. The Chiefs offense only had 237 total yards. After a couple of years of complete dominance, the Chiefs have struggled a lot. This just may not be their year.

Raiders vs. Chiefs Predictions

These two teams are in very interesting positions. The Raiders have dealt with two large scandals this year (resulting in a head coach being fired and a starting wide receiver being cut) and arrested)  and the Chiefs are struggling to play efficiently after making the last two Super Bowls and winning one of them.

This game could really go either way, but the Chiefs have the upper hand. They are playing at home in a stadium with notoriously loud fans. They also have a stronger roster than the Raiders, and Patrick Mahomes still has the ability to be a top quarterback in the NFL. This game will be close and come down to the wire, but I would bet on the Chiefs.

My Prediction: Chiefs 24, Raiders 20.

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Matchup Preview

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Matchup Preview (11/12/2021)

By Max Heering

The 5-6 Boston Celtics will be playing the very injured 7-5 Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland on Saturday. The Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors 104-88 in their last game. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics in scoring with 22 points. All of the starters and sixth man Josh Richardson scored double-digit points. They accounted for 92% of the Celtics points in that game. The Celtics had six more offensive rebounds than the Raptors and took 17 more shots.

Read all of our NBA previews and predictions against the spread for the biggest games of the week!

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost their last game to the Washington Wizards 97-94. As I mentioned earlier, the Cavaliers are very injured and playing without Collin Sexton, Lauri Markannen, and Kevin Love. Ricky Rubio led the Cavs in scoring with 20 points off the bench. Darius Garland and Evan Mobley each scored 19 points, and Jarrett Allen had a 13-point, ten-rebound double-double. The Cavs had a six-point lead entering the fourth quarter but could not hold it together in the fourth and were outscored by nine points.

Celtics vs. Cavaliers Predictions

If you asked me a week ago, I would have told you to bet on the Cavaliers to beat the Celtics at home. Lauri Markannen and Kevin Love had already entered the league’s health and safety protocols, but Colllin Sexton was healthy. Then, Collin Sexton went down with a meniscus tear.

Collin Sexton was a spark plug who played ferocious defense and could throw down powerful dunks. Now that he is out for an extended period, everything is up in the air for the Cavs. They still have pieces in Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley, but they lose a lot without Sexton.

The Celtics will be playing without Jaylen Brown, but, other than that, they are healthy. They will not win this game easily, but they will win behind Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, and Al Horford.

My Prediction: Celtics 108, Cavaliers 101.

Miami Heat vs. Utah Jazz Matchup Preview

Miami Heat vs. Utah Jazz Matchup Preview (11/13/2021)

By Max Heering

The 7-5 Miami Heat will be playing the 8-4 Utah Jazz on the road on Saturday afternoon. Both of these teams are coming off losses. The Heat lost their last game 112-109 to the Los Angeles Clippers. They played without Jimmy Butler, and his absence was noticeable. Bam Adebayo led the Heat in scoring with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Lowry contributed 25 points, and Tyler Herro threw in 23 points. The Heat outrebounded the Clippers 50-42 but turned the ball over a few more times than the Clippers.

Read all of our NBA previews and predictions against the spread for the biggest games of the week!

The Utah Jazz lost their last game to the Indiana Pacers 111-100. Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz in scoring with 26 points. Rudy Gobert had a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double. The Jazz bench struggled to score and only had 37 points. The Jazz only took 83 shots compared to the Pacers’ 96 shots. That would be because the Pacers grabbed an impressive 15 offensive rebounds in that game and outrebounded the Jazz 53-37 as a whole. The Jazz also struggled from the free-throw line, only hitting 56.5%of their free throws.

Heat vs. Jazz Predictions

Jimmy Butler is currently listed as day-to-day. If he plays against the Jazz, the Heat have a chance to win the game against this tough Jazz team.

Even though the Jazz lost their last game, they are still an absolutely dominant regular-season team. They are currently sitting at third in the Western Conference, but I see them overtaking the Phoenix Suns for the second spot soon. That push for second tonight with a win against the Heat. Jazz has the advantage of playing at home with their very loud fans. They also have a fully healthy team.

This game will be a battle but the Jazz will be victorious.

My Prediction: Jazz 104, Heat 99.

New York Knicks vs. Charlotte Hornets Matchup Preview

New York Knicks vs. Charlotte Hornets Matchup Preview (11/12/2021)

By Max Heering

On Friday, the 7-5 New York Knicks will be playing the 6-7 Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Knicks are coming off a 112-100 loss to the now .500 Milwaukee Bucks. Derrick Rose led the Knicks in scoring with 22 points and threw in seven assists off the bench. However, the Knicks starters could not put the ball in the hoop and scored only 32 combined points. In addition, the Knicks struggled on the boards and were outrebounded 50-38.

Read all of our NBA previews and predictions against the spread for the biggest games of the week!

The Charlotte Hornets started the season hot with a 5-2 record. They lost their next five games but beat the Grizzlies 118-108 on the road in their last game. Kelly Oubre Jr. was an animal in that game and scored 37 points off the bench. Gordon Hayward also had a strong game with 25 points. The Hornets went 15/36 from behind the three-point line and 21-24 from the free-throw line.

Knicks vs. Hornets Predictions

The Knicks have come down to earth after a solid start. They are still very good, but not as good as Knicks fans touted at the beginning of the season. Nevertheless, they have a strong defense and a deep roster with a lot of veterans. The Hornets, on the other hand, have an electric and young offense led by LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges but do not play much defense.

The differences between these two teams are noticeable. These differences will make for an interesting game. Even though the Knicks are playing on the road, I expect them to squeak out the win against the fast-paced Hornets. The Hornets are still figuring out how to string together some wins, and the Knicks seem to have a better handle on that. Bet on the Knicks.

My Prediction: Knicks 120, Hornets 113.
