Bears vs Lions Predictions

Andy Dalton gets the start for the Bears and although the fans may groan, he can only help an offense that ranks second to last in the league in yards per game. Matt Nagy and his coaching staff are trying to end their tenure on a high note with rumors swirling and it is very clear that change is coming. To make matters worse the Bears are just 5-11 ATS in the last 16 games as a favorite.

The Lions are still fighting although they have yet to win a game and it looks as though QB Jared Goff will be back for this game.

This is a boost for an offense that has had moments where they have put up points. They will need the offense to move the ball if they hope to score more than the 26 combined points that they have posted in the last two weeks.

This number is way too big. The Colts have an incredible defense and will make the playoffs. The Bills are overrated and struggling to string together great games. After starting 0-3, the Colts have managed to put forth the 3rd best rushing offense in the league. The Colts are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 games, but not the team we want to focus on this week.

The Bears are having a difficult season, but rookie QB Justin Fields looks good. The Ravens are the better team and they are off an ugly loss. Because of this, everyone wants to bet on Baltimore. But the Ravens defense allows over 283 yards per game and they are not the dominating defense they have been in the past. The Ravens are 1-6 ATS as a favorite and 1-4 ATS after a bye week. The Bears are a good bet, but they are not our pick this week.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is off his worst game of the season. That led to the Seahawks being underdogs this week. That is where Wilson thrives. He is 6-3 ATS as a home underdog and this is a must-win game. The Hawks are 17-8-2 ATS after a loss against the spread and 36-15-4 ATS after a straight-up loss. Wilson is back and will make this a statement game. The Seahawks have to win this game to stay alive for a playoff berth. That makes Seattle the one team to bet on this week.

The Minnesota Vikings Will Win

Last week, we successfully predicted that the Vikings would win and they delivered with a big win. We are back with the Vikings again to beat Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. One of our favorite angles to bet is an underdog that wins outright and they are an underdog again at home the following week.

The public will blindly follow Aaron Rodgers and that is why almost 80 percent of the bets are on the Packers this week. But the Vikings have a knack for keeping games close this season and they are 4-1 ATS as an underdog this year. Aaron Jones is out and although AJ Dillon has impressed, the Packers will need everyone if they hope to beat the Vikings. Minnesota is 19-6-1 ATS as a home underdog and they beat the Packers this week.

The Las Vegas Raiders Will Win

The Las Vegas Raiders are left for dead. After a humiliating loss against the Kansas City Chiefs on national television, everyone is writing off the Raiders. Meanwhile, the well-rested Cincinnati Bengals gained ground within the division on a bye week. However, the Bengals are 0-5 ATS after a bye week and are not comfortable as a favorite. In fact, the Bengals have only covered twice in the last eight games as a favorite.

Raiders QB Derek Carr passed for 261 yards last week, which equals his lowest of the season. That will change against a Bengal’s defense that is inconsistent at best. Look for a rebound at home and a big win for the Silver and Black.

The Carolina Panthers Will Absolutely Cover

Last week we loved the Washington Football team and they delivered with a big win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, this week it is time to fade Washington. First of all, Washington is off a huge win, so letdown is expected, but the true motivation is on the other end of the field.

Cam Newton injected this team with some energy and enthusiasm and the Panthers made him the starter for this week. Newton has often reached out to Ron Rivera to get back into the league but has been passed over. Now he gets a chance to show Ron that he made a mistake. Taylor Heinicke leads Washington but he is 3-7 ATS in his career. The sportsbooks know that this is a mistake and that is why the Panthers are a favorite in this game.

Washington will play without Chase Young and that is a crucial blow to a defense that is struggling this year. Washington is 1-4 against the spread in the last five road games and overall. Back the Panthers at home to win and cover.

The New York Jets Will Absolutely Cover

I know what you are thinking. How on earth can the Jets be the best bet this week? Well, a few things happened. First of all, the Miami Dolphins pulled off the biggest win of the year. They trounced the Baltimore Ravens and although they have extra rest, they are still going to have some letdown. Now they head to the Big Apple as road favorites. The Dolphins do not have the right to be rod favorites against anyone.

Joe Flacco is the starter and many believe that this is a mistake. On the contrary, this is a genius move by the coaching staff. They let Zach Wilson get healthy and they bring in a veteran that will give the Jets a chance to win. Flacco can read defenses and handle pressure.

The Dolphins are off a big win but they have an offensive line that is last in pass block rate and 29th in total yards. It is hard to back the Dolphins since they are 1-5 ATS as a road favorite.

I hate to say it, folks, but the Kansas City Chiefs are back. They had a slow start but returned to form last week against the Las Vegas Raiders. When you really think about it, quarterback Patrick Mahomes returned to form last week. He threw for 406 yards and five touchdowns. Mahomes sprayed the ball around the field, hitting eight different targets. Travis Kelce, Darrell Williams, Tyreek Hill, and Byron Pringle were his favorite targets. They combined for 28 receptions for 349 yards. The most surprising part of the game is that Patrick Mahomes, a prolific runner, did not rush once in their 41-14 win.

The Dallas Cowboys are really good this year and easily the best team in the NFC East. After a tough 30-16 loss two weeks ago to the Denver Broncos, they rebounded in a huge way. They beat the Atlanta Falcons 43-3 with a balanced attack. Dak Prescott was efficient, completing 24/31 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns (both to CeeDee Lamb). Ezekiel Elliot only rushed for 2.9 yards per carry, but found the end zone twice. The Cowboy’s defense also had a great game with three interceptions. They only allowed the Falcons to get 214 total yards.

Cowboys vs. Chiefs Predictions

These are two excellent teams, but I do not think the Chiefs can be stopped now. The Chiefs are also playing at home, and that gives them a huge advantage. I really do not like the Chiefs, so it makes me sad to say this, but they’re back. Bet on the Chiefs.

My Prediction: Chiefs 31, Cowboys 24.

I will admit that this is an interesting pick for Sunday Night Football. These two teams were supposed to be better than they are but have fizzled out recently. The 5-3-1 Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a 16-16 tie to the winless Detriot Lions. Mason Rudolph started that game in the absence of Ben Roethlisberger. He threw the ball 50 times but only had 242 passing yards. He did throw one touchdown, but he also threw one interception. Running back Najee Harris was also heavily depended upon in that game. He rushed 26 times for 105 yards but did not find the end zone.

The 5-4 Los Angeles Chargers are coming off a 27-20 loss against the Minnesota Vikings. The Chargers had a couple of chances to put that game away, but could not execute. Justin Herbert had an uncharacteristically quiet game with 195 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Larry Rountree II rushed for his first career touchdown, and Austin Ekeler caught one touchdown. The Charger’s offense struggled with 253 total yards.

Steelers vs. Chargers Predictions

Both of these teams are dealing with quite a few injuries, but the Steeler’s injuries are a little more notable. The Steelers will be playing without Ben Roethlisberger, T.J. Watt, Joe Haden, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Juju Smith-Schuster. 

The Steelers also do not have a home-field advantage. I think the Steelers are too shorthanded against a Chargers team that can be really good. This game will either be a Chargers blowout or similar to last week’s Steeler’s game against the Lions.

My Prediction: Chargers 24, Steelers 17.

The 10-5 Utah Jazz and the 6-9 Sacramento Kings have distinctly different styles of play. The Jazz are a little more experienced and have strong shooting and defense. However, they also do not push the pace of play very much. On the other hand, the Kings are young and will try to run any team they are playing out of the gym. They also do not play much defense.

The Utah Jazz are coming off a 119-103 win against the Toronto Raptors. Rudy Gay played in his first game of the season and wasted no time. He had 20 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Donovan Mitchell also had 20 points, and Rudy Gobert had a 14 point, 11 rebound double-double. The Jazz had an embarrassing 23 turnovers but hit 55% of their shots from the field and 12/13 free-throws.

The Sacramento Kings are coming off a 107-97 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. De’Aaron Fox had 28 points, and Buddy Hield threw in another 16 off the bench. The Kings outrebounded the Timberwolves 47-36  but could not make shots. They only hit 36.6% of their shots from the field.

Jazz vs. Kings Prediction

This is not a hard call to make. The Jazz are now playing as a completely healthy team. The Kings are also completely healthy, but they do not have the pieces that the Jazz have. They will easily handle this young Kings team and show why they are one of the best in the league. Watch out for a blowout.

My Prediction: Jazz 115, Kings 98.

The 9-7 Philadephia 76ers will be playing the 8-8 Portland Trail Blazers on the road on Saturday night. The shorthanded 76ers are coming off a 103-89 win against the Denver Nuggets. Five players scored double-digit points, but Tyrese Maxey led all scoring with 22 points. The 76ers struggled from the free-throw line, only hitting half of their free throws, but they had no issue from the field; they hit over half of their field goal attempts.

In their last game, the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Chicago Bulls 112-107 to push their record to 8-8. Damian Lillard had a 22 point, ten assist double-double, and Jusuf Nurkic had an 18 point, 12 rebound double-double. The Trail Blazers got to the free-throw line an incredible 28 times and hit 27 of their free throws.

76ers vs. Trail Blazers Predictions

If the 76ers were playing at full strength, I would give them the upper hand. They have many injured players, including Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, and have had to use a short rotation as a result. On the other hand, the Trail Blazers are healthy. The Trail Blazers are also playing at home. I have to give them the edge for mainly those reasons. They are also on a two-game winning streak and picking up momentum. Bet on the Trail Blazers.

My Prediction: Trail Blazers 110, 76ers 100.

It is pretty tempting to take the Spartans and the double-digits considering that they are the No. 7 team in the country. However, Ohio State is playing their best football right now and they realize a big win at home will cement their stake to a playoff spot. The Buckeyes have covered four straight in this series and the Spartans fade down the stretch with a 5-12 ATS record in November since 20218. Back the Buckeyes.

Arkansas at Alabama

In another battle of top-25 teams, the SEC features the Razorbacks vs the Crimson Tide. Alabama is the better team and they are 9-1 ATS as a home favorite but don’t count out the scrappy Hogs. This will be the first time Alabama QB sees the type of defense that Arkansas runs. That will lead to confusion and turnovers early. The Razorbacks will try o run and control the clock which will make for a lower-scoring game. The Razorbacks are 6-2 ATS as a road underdog and they keep it close.

Washington at Colorado

The Huskies are in a tailspin after losing a big game and watching their coach get fired. They will have little motivation for a game in Mile High air against a CU team that is improving every week.  The Huskies are 2-10 against the spread when playing a team with a losing record and the Buffaloes are 7-3 ATS as a home dog.

Oregon at Utah

This is always a popular betting spot. The lower-ranked team is a favorite at home against a higher-ranked team. Utah has covered 14 of their last 21 games as a home favorite and this is a game that can put this football team in the top ten. Utah is a top team defensively leading the conference in sacks. They will harass the Oregon offense all night long. The Ducks are 3-7 ATS as a road underdog and they are knocked out of the playoff picture.

This will be one exciting game to watch. The 10-5 Chicago Bulls are third in the Eastern Conference and one of the surprises of the NBA. However, the Bulls are coming off a 112-107 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Zach Lavine had 30 points and seven rebounds in 37 minutes. DeMar DeRozan also had 22 points, but Alex Caruso had the most impressive stat line with his near triple-double. He finished with 12 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. The Bulls shot 16/20 from the free-throw line, but the Trail Blazers hit 27/28 of their free throws.

The 9-5 Denver Nuggets have been playing well in the absence of Jamal Murray. Nikola Jokic has returned to last year’s form and is averaging 26.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. The Nuggets are coming off a 111-101 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Jokic had 35 points and 16 rebounds in that game. Monte Morris also played well with 17 points and eight assists. Unfortunately, the Nuggets were outshot from the three-point line, and that is why they lost.

Bulls vs. Nuggets Predictions

 

The Bulls may be playing without defensive spark plug Alex Caruso in this game. They have been playing without starting center Nikola Vucevic in their last few games, and their defense has suffered because of it. I expect the Bulls to keep it close, but the Nuggets are tough to beat at home. So I have to give the Nuggets the edge in a game that will go down to the wire.

My Prediction: Nuggets 102, Bulls 98.
